Ciné Francophone: Coco

Join us for the first film in our Ciné Francophone series with Alliance Française de Washington.

coco1French comedian Gad Elmaleh stars as the titular character, Coco, a forty-year-old man who has made a fortune from his invention of a new type of sparkling water. But his biggest challenge is yet to come: his son’s bar mitzvah. Determined that the celebration will be the most fantastic event of the year, Coco alienates his entire family as he plans for the gala.

Producer Ilan Goldman says of Gad Elmaleh,

“He has good taste. He has good taste to choose actors, light, costumes, scenery (it’s the first time I have heard people laugh about the scenery!)… And also he has a sense of comic timing! He made me understand the mechanics of comedy.

Review from Le Parisien newspaper:

“An excessive comedy about a caricatural character, Coco starts like a rocket and Gad is terrific and his lines are going to have a cult following!”

Come see what all the hype is about this Thursday at 7:00pm! For reservations and further information, go to francedc.org.
